There are few companies that can make a case that they’re the original phone company, but Ulefone has earned their name on their ruggedized smartphones. Even though they’re no longer considered one of the “real” major Chinese manufacturers, there’s a reason Ulefone continues to be successful – they’re not your average Chinese brand.
But while their phones aren’t going to blow you away, Ulefone has been able to maintain an impressive array of models over the past decade, so it’s not like you should ever find yourself short on options.
Ulefone Armor 8 review
The Armor 8 is the newest addition to their smartphone lineup, but it’s far from the first. The Ulefone Armor series has been around for several years, but Ulefone has never stopped innovating on the design front.
As the first Ulefone model released in the United States, the Armor 8 can take its rightful place alongside the company’s flagship devices, which were all once part of the Ulefone Armor series, and it shares a similar ruggedized design.
However, it’s far from the first ruggedized smartphone you’ll see on the market – the Ulefone Armor 8 is no doubt inspired by Ulefone’s UleFone 4G LTE, which has been a hit in China for a while now. In the world of rugged smartphones, Ulefone is one of the key features of high-quality mobile arrival to make a list of the top 10 best-rugged smartphones of 2021.
While it isn’t as good a device as the original Ulefone 4G LTE, there’s plenty to like here, and the Armor 8 provides even better value for your money. If you’re looking for a new phone in the Ulefone Armor series, then the Armor 8 should be your first stop. It’s rugged, durable, and will offer excellent value for your money.
The last Ulefone smartphones we’ve reviewed were the Ulefone Armor 6 and Ulefone Armor 6 Plus. I have not tried out the more recent generation of Ulefone Armor smartphones (Ulefone Armor 5, 5T, and 5S) but I see the current generation of Ulefone Armor smartphones as an upgrade for these phones in all aspects except for display quality.
That’s why I really wanted to try out the Ulefone Armor 8, the more recent model of the Ulefone Armor phones
The Ulefone Armor 8’s display is not a full-screen display like the iPhone X, instead, there are two screens placed one over the other, the upper screen has a very narrow bezel on the left and right sides, and the lower screen is the full-screen display.
A full-screen display is something that is becoming popular among smartphone manufacturers, the reason for this is simple: it allows manufacturers to make displays with higher screen-to-body ratios (henceforth, a higher screen-to-body ratio means more real-estate on a phone’s display).
This design is done to differentiate between the top and bottom parts of the smartphone. One reason for this design is that some people feel that displays with high screen-to-body ratios don’t look great (as the display takes up a lot of real estates).
Another reason is that some people feel that in order to prevent unintentional touches while typing on the display, the display shouldn’t be bezel-less.
However, I feel that the Ulefone Armor 8’s design looks much better in practice as the edges of the display are a lot softer and you can’t easily feel the edges when touching the display.
The Ulefone Armor 8’s display will have a good screen-to-body ratio as it has a 5.1-inch screen with a screen-to-body ratio of 80%. The body of the smartphone is made from Gorilla Glass 4, and the camera module is made from a Sony IMX377 sensor that will be capable of recording videos in 1080p.
The smartphone has a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 2.5mm headphone jack that is placed on the left-hand side of the device. The battery capacity is at 3500mAh and is non-removable.

Ulefone Armor 8 Specifications and Price
The Ulefone Armor 8 comes in one simple version of black. It does not come in a white or gold version, nor do they have any plans to.
It should be noted that the original Ulefone 4G LTE also had the same simple black design, but it was the black version of the Ulefone 3G, and it was available in gold as well as silver.
It seems that Ulefone is going to continue their trend of simplicity with the Armor 8. The Ulefone Armor 8 is currently on sale, and it costs $160 for just a $25 discount. The only downside of this is that the discount is only available in the US and it’s only on the online version.
Luckily, you can always purchase the Ulefone Armor 8 directly from Gearbest for about $200. The Ulefone Armor 8 is a budget smartphone with a solid camera, bright display, and more in the sub-Rs 20,000 brackets. It comes with a 5.5-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
For selfies, the Ulefone Armor 8 gets an 8-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and a front-facing 8-megapixel camera.

- Cheap, but not too cheap
- Very durable, strong phone
- Compatible with any Ulefone or Honor device
- The screen is the only let down, but not a big one
This is another great entry-level Android phone for those who don’t want to spend a lot of money. It comes with a 5MP camera, with the only downside being that it comes with a 720p screen. It’s one of the few affordable phones with a 720p screen, but I would still recommend it as one of the best budget Android phones you can buy, especially if you like black phones.
