The AMA Ambassador Program will be accepting applications for various leadership positions later this summer. More details will be posted in late August. The program’s steering committee advises staff on the general direction of the AMA Ambassador Program.

Loan and grant info for residents & medical students during COVID-19
With COVID-19 causing so many changes, it can be hard for residents and medical students to keep up with the additional aid that has become available in the past month. The AMA has created a resource guide that addresses some of the benefits that are currently available for residents and medical students, ranging from loan relief to additional grants to new policies that help make it easier during this challenging time.
Individuals will directly receive $1,200 for single taxpayers, $2,400 for married taxpayers filing a joint tax return and $500 per child. These amounts phase-down for higher-income taxpayers, meaning an individual who earns above $75,000 or married joint filers earning above $150,000, will receive less than the above-mentioned amounts.
The advancing provision allows taxpayers to receive this credit before 2020 tax returns are filed in early 2021. American College of Surgeon International Students Scholarships
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) leadership has decided to defer this scholarship until the year 2021. New applications will not be reviewed for 2021. This page will be updated and new applicants will be considered for 2022 as soon as more information is available.
The American College of Surgeons offers International Guest Scholarships to young surgeons from countries other than the United States or Canada who have demonstrated strong interests in teaching and research.
The scholarships, for $10,000 each, provide the scholars with an opportunity to visit clinical, teaching, and research activities in the U.S. and Canada and to attend and participate fully in the educational opportunities and activities of the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress.
This scholarship endowment was originally provided through the legacy left to the College by Paul R. Hawley, MD (FACS Hon), former College Director. More recently, gifts from the family of Abdol Islami, MD (FACS), the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and others to the International Guest Scholarship endowment have enabled the College to expand the number of scholarship awards. ASCP Siemen Scholarships
The ASCP Foundation’s Scholarship Fund provides financial support to outstanding pathology residents to help them expand their knowledge, skills, and professional network, and it assists clinical laboratory students through scholarships for books and tuition.
The Foundation provides grants to Directors of Medical Laboratory programs to support the purchase of education-related materials and other training program resources, and it also provides fellowships to students and pathology residents and fellows to expand their experience and knowledge.

Harvard Medical School Financial Aid Application
The financial aid is awarded on an annual basis. Each year, students are required to complete the financial aid application process anew. Application materials are provided electronically to admitted students and all waitlisted admissions candidates. Returning students receive instructions via email.
Financial aid award decisions are made following the submission of all financial aid application materials by March 18. Award letters are emailed to first-year MD students on a rolling basis, beginning in late March. Award letter notifications are emailed to returning students in early July. University of Calvary Open Scholarships
The University of Calgary offers bursaries to students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in the Cumming School of Medicine. Medical students wishing to apply for the competitive Medical Elective Awards submit a separate application; refer to the “Medical Elective Awards” section in this Calendar for details.
The scholarship is open to students entering or continuing in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at the University of Calgary. Medical students in year two or three of the Doctor of Medicine program must be in satisfactory academic standing to be eligible for these awards.
Students entering the Bachelor of Health Sciences or Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation program (admitted based on their high school grades) are not eligible for these awards and should apply for High School Awards (refer to the “High School Awards” section of this Calendar for details).

The Foundation also supports activities that expand access to quality health care services for those in challenging circumstances and partners with others to improve the well-being of communities.
This medical students scholarship program was established in 2013, the United Health Foundation (UHF) has partnered with the National Medical Fellowships (NMF) to offer the Diverse Medical Scholars Program. This is a service-learning program designed to increase the number of qualified medical providers who commit to improving access to quality healthcare in medically underserved communities.
This program is a renewable scholarship that provides a $7,000 award to twenty-nine (29), qualified medical students. All Scholars are required to complete a 200-hour self-directed community health project at the community site of their choice.
